The New York Islanders will be missing two roster players for at least a good chunk of the week.
Goaltender Marcus Hogberg and defenceman Ryan Pulock were placed on IR with upper-body injuries on Monday, retroactive to Saturday. That means they won't be eligible to return until next Saturday.
The Islanders recalled goalie Jakub Skarek from the AHL to fill Hogberg's spot. New York is thin in net with Semyon Varlamov on LTIR.
Hogberg injured his hand at the end of regulation on Saturday in an overtime win against the Carolina Hurricanes. Pulock exited the game in the first period.
Hogberg is 2-2 with a 1.45 goals-against average and .947 save percentage this season.
Pulock has three goals and 13 assists in 48 games.
